Thematic Summit on Physical Sciences & Engineering, Social Sciences & Humanities, and Energy

The Thematic Summit hosted by SOLARIS Centre will focus on three domains: Physical Sciences & Engineering, Energy, Social Sciences & Humanities.

Strategic Importance

The outcomes of the Thematic Summit in Kraków will directly feed into the RIFF Roadmap for Recovery and Enhancement of Research Infrastructures in Ukraine. By participating, Ukrainian science community actively contribute to shaping national RI priorities and strengthening Ukraine’s position within the European Research Area.

The Summits are not only networking events, they are practical working platforms designed to build sustainable partnerships and concrete integration pathways.

Focus on ESFRI Scientific Domains

The Summits are structured around ESFRI scientific domains, ensuring targeted and meaningful discussions. This summit will focus on three ESFRI domains, bringing together domain-specific communities while also encouraging cross-domain exchange:

  • • Energy (ENE)
    • Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH)
    • Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE)

Who Can Apply

The Summit is expected to welcome approximately 100 participants, with a strong representation from the Ukrainian research and RI community.

The Summit is intended for the following audiences from Ukraine:

  • Researchers and RI users
  • RI managers and operators
  • Policy-makers and institutional decision-makers
  • Experts active in the ESFRI domains

Funding

Travel and accommodation costs for selected participants affiliated with Ukrainian institutions and residing in Ukraine will be covered by the RIFF project.

In addition to round-trip travel from Ukraine to Kraków, the RIFF project will also cover 2 tickets for local transportation within the city of Kraków.

Registration & Practical Information

Participation in the RIFF Thematic Summits will be based on an open registration and selection process.

  • Registration opens (Round 1): 20 February 2026
  • Registration deadline (Round 1): 9 March 2026
  • Notification of selected participants from Round 1 & launch of Round 2 registration: from 20 March 2026
  • Deadline for final registration for selected participants (Round 2): by 2 April 2026
