Thematic Summits in Brno/Kraków

Thematic Summit on Physical Sciences & Engineering, Social Sciences & Humanities, and Energy

The first summit was held on 19–20 May at the National Synchrotron Radiation Centre SOLARIS in Kraków. The event focused on strengthening cooperation, supporting reconstruction, and connecting Ukrainian research infrastructure with the wider European research landscape.

The programme focused on three ESFRI domains: Energy, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Physical and Engineering Sciences. It included talks, panel discussions, and interactive sessions with representatives of the EU research infrastructures, including those listed on the ESFRI Roadmap and members of the ERIC Forum.

The Summit brought together experts, scientists, research infrastructure representatives, and policymakers from the EU and Ukraine to exchange experience and explore concrete opportunities for future collaboration. Discussions highlighted the role of European research infrastructures in rebuilding Ukraine’s scientific potential. Participants were also introduced to initiatives such as the MAVKA beamline at SOLARIS, which is aimed to expand opportunities for the Ukrainian scientific community and reinforce scientific collaborations with the EU.

Thematic Summit on Health & Food, Environment, and Data, Computing & Digital Research Infrastructures

The second summit took place on 15–16 June 2026 at Masaryk University in Brno. It focused on strengthening cooperation between the Ukrainian research community and pan-European research infrastructures in three ESFRI domains.

The summit brought together researchers, research infrastructure managers, policymakers, institutional representatives, and experts from Ukraine and the EU. Its main aim was to create a space for exchanging experience, building partnerships, discussing shared challenges, and exploring concrete ways to support Ukraine’s integration into the European Research Area and the EU research infrastructure landscape, while strengthening its contribution to the country's sustainable reconstruction.
